Everyone's Favorite Runaway
Claudette Colbert was born on September 13, 1903, in Paris but moved to New York with her family when she was a little girl. She soon became enamored with the theater and wanted to play on Broadway before live audiences. The depression made that difficult as theaters closed down but movies beckoned and Claudette tried her hand at them. She played the lead in CLEOPATRA (1934) for the legendary Cecil B. DeMille but it was her portrayal of Ellie Andrews alongside Clark Gable in IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934) that forever immortalized her. Ms. Colbert won the Academy Award for Best Actress that year. In one of her many publicity photos she wore this dazzling amethyst and diamond ring. Sizes 5-9.
