Fit for a Duchess
Paulette Goddard began her career at the ripe old age of 13 as a Ziegfeld performer. Her first break came in the 1939 film, THE WOMEN and was followed by a wonderful performance in THE CAT AND THE CANARY with Bob Hope. Her most acclaimed role was in SO PROUDLY WE HAIL (1943) for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. And let's not forget about KITTY (1945) in which Paulette played an ordinary Englishwoman who transforms herself into a Duchess, often considered to be her finest acting performance. In the film HOLD BACK THE DAWN (1941) the beautiful Ms. Goddard wore this equally beautiful gold and pave diamond bracelet.
